Josephine M. Ruello of Rising Sun, Md.
Josephine M. Ruello, 86, of Rising Sun, Md., died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Calvert Manor Nursing Home. Josephine was born in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sept. 20, 1926 to the late Nicholas P. and Margaret M. (Tuccio) Ruello. Josephine graduated in 1944 from Kennett Consolidated High School in Kennett Square. She was the class secretary and was also valedictorian of her class. She was fluent in Latin, Italian and French. She loved and was very active in her church, St. Agnes RC Church in Rising Sun serving on the Parish Council, and the Ladies Altar Society. Josephine was a church trustee for over 50 years and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She also worked as a Eucharistic minister to the church and a minister to the sick. She was an integral part of organizing and leading the church Italian night and the spaghetti dinners. She also established the monthly luncheons at St. Agnes. Josephine, for many years, prepared the crab soup for the Lions Club annual Crab Feast. For many years she was the secretary and bookkeeper at Ruello Mushrooms Inc. With her husband, they owned and operated a store and Italian restaurant at Barnes Corner for about ten years. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Rose Greer and her husband Jerry of Newark, Del., Nicholas Ruello of Newark, Del., Antonia Pacitti and her husband Steve of Louden, Tenn., Marguerite (LeBrun) Halpny and her husband Jim of Rising Sun, Md. and Joseph Ruello of Rising Sun, Md.; sister, Frances Hopkins and her husband Bill of Avondale; 11 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph N. Ruello; brother, Gaetano Ruello (Donald); and grandson, David L. LeBrun. A visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 150 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
